Victoria River Roadhouse

 Back on the road again 5th Feb 2026. Drove from Kate & Doug's in Girraween down the Stuart highway to Katherine. got some supplies and filled up with fuel. Raining like a waterfall driving slow, then out again onto dry road. heading to Victoria River Roadhouse for a couple of nights off grid. Checked out the escarpment walk and the Vic river running high. one photo shows old bridge under water.

1st move.

 Drove to Halls Gap via Ballarat. Lots of uphill so used a bit of diesel. Great camp spot. Grampians National Park. Awesome walks and great wine. Very dry Autumn so no spectacular waterfalls.

Coober Pedy, Opal town

 Arrived in Coober Pedy on Friday evening. Have had 4 nights here. Amazing place, lovely people, and so many sights to see. Been in underground house, been down an Opel mine, done some noodling for Opals and found a small one. Went into the Kanku Breakaways Conservation Park, absolutely stunning scenery. Enjoyed every moment here. Visited all the Opal shops, and learnt so much about Opals and their mining. Had to buy a couple to take home as a souvenir. One for each ear.
