Coober Pedy, Opal town

Arrived in Coober Pedy on Friday evening. Have had 4 nights here. Amazing place, lovely people, and so many sights to see. Been in underground house, been down an Opel mine, done some noodling for Opals and found a small one. Went into the Kanku Breakaways Conservation Park, absolutely stunning scenery. Enjoyed every moment here. Visited all the Opal shops, and learnt so much about Opals and their mining. Had to buy a couple to take home as a souvenir. One for each ear.

    1. Spaceship was from Pitch Black movie made there. House stuff was a miners house that she dug out of the rock, a legend in the area.

  2. Awesome Pics Guys. Nice earings Shelly. This is a place I am familiar with. While I have never been there, back in the 50's my father worked here for a couple of years. (apparently) Guess he tried to stike it rich, but of course he never did. Wonderful place. And you look like you are having some great fun. Lotsa love from Deb and Haz.

    1. Always was on the wishlist to visit as was Broken Hill. Helpful and interesting people live there. Very friendly. Mild temperatures during 'winter' but can see how blasted it would get during summer.
